Sportsplex offers a complete swimming curriculum, from teaching your child how to be safe in the water to refining skills in preparation for Swim Team. Our priority is safety with quality and to facilitate a lifetime of fitness in the water. Class placement is determined by ability through an evaluation with a Certified Sportsplex Instructor.
Foundations 30-minute classes have a 1:4 instructor to child ratio
Progressive 45-minute classes have a 1:6 instructor to child ratio
Designed to give young children a head start on swimming, to get comfortable in the water and begin to work on basic skills while interacting with instructor and other children in a fun and safe environment. Parents and children learn together to increase a child’s comfort level in the water and build a foundation of basic skills, such as arm and leg movements and breath control. Lessons are fun-filled and help introduce water safety concepts that the whole family is sure to enjoy!
Seahorse Ages 3 years+
For the beginner who may not be comfortable in the water.
Swimmers will learn basics of swimming with a backpack on: bobbing, blowing bubbles, supported front and back floats, supported rolling from front to back and back to front, supported front and back glides, supported flutter kicking, supported front crawl arms and jumping in.
Starfish Ages 3-4 years+
For the beginner who is comfortable in the water.
Swimmers learn basics of swimming(with or without a backpack): bobbing, going under water, supported front and back floating, supported rolling over from front to back and back to front, supported gliding , supported flutter kick, supported front crawl arms and jumping in.
Turtle Ages 4-5 years+
Swimmers should already be able to float on front and back and put head under water.
Swimmers will work on(without backpack): independent front and back floating , independent rolling over from front to back and back to front, independent front and back glides, front crawl arms and kicks, back crawl arms and kicks, retrieving underwater objects, and jumping into water over their head.
Sea Otter Any Age
Swimmers should already be comfortable swimming front stroke and swimming on their back.
Swimmers will work on: gliding, freestyle with side breathing, backstroke, breast stroke and dolphin kicks, retrieving objects in deeper water, treading water, jumping into deep water and compact dives.
Dolphin Any Age
Swimmers should already be able to: swim front and back crawl 25 yards.
Swimmers will work on: rotary breathing, freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke, scissors kick and sidestroke, whip kick and breaststroke, intro to turning at wall, treading water with modified scissors, and diving in kneeling position.
Whale Any Age
Swimmers should already be able to: swim freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke 25 yards, scissors kick, whip kick, treading water, and dive.
Swimmers will work on: alternate breathing, stride jump, refinement of: freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, breaststroke, dolphin kick and butterfly, open turn on front and back, feet-first surface dive, and treading water.
Shark Age 18+
This is an adults group lesson geared towards teaching adults who may know how to swim and want to refine their stroke, or may not and want to learn the basics.

Private swim lessons are designed to meet the individual’s needs and goals. Schedule one lesson to touch up on a skill or a series of lessons to master a new skill. From children to adults, our instructors are happy to work with all skills and ability levels.
